The movie is put during the reign of Emperor Renzong of this Song Dynasty in 11th century China. The emperor fails state events and indulges in personal joys, whilst the government sinks to corruption and war continues to rage at the borders of the Song Dynasty. The armies of Western Xia's equal country are invading the Song Dynasty. Yang Zongbao may be the last person standing in the Yang clan, a group of generals that have dedicated their own lives to protecting the Song Dynasty. He apparently expires in conflict when the treacherous Imperial Tutor Pang won't send reinforcements to assist him. The widowed wife Mu Guiying of yang Zongbao contributes one opposite widows of the Yang clan to keep on the heritage in their husbands.
