The family man farmer John Rollins is worried with his financial situation: the crows as well as the lack of irrigation have been currently destroying his own crop of corn. The bank is closing of his mortgage. He doesn't have charge to fix the water heater or to get seeds. And his union is in crisis and also his wife Mary is giving too much attention to her friend Tommy. When John accidentally discovers a hidden compartment in the barn, he even sees a scarecrow however his son Michael makes him claim to destroy it.
