Shakedown
In "Shakedown," Jack Early (Howard Duff) is a photographer who will go to any length to reach the pinnacle of success. He gets a position with a prominent newspaper on the strength of his tenacity, and it's not long until he's established a reputation for himself by beguiling a notorious crime leader, Nick Palmer (Brian Donlevy), into allowing himself to be photographed. Palmer takes him under his wing, but Early decides to bite the hand that feeds him and pits Palmer against another criminal lord, Colton (Lawrence Tierney). He uses images to blackmail Colton into supplying him with a constant income while secretly romancing Palmer's wife and romancing the photo editor of the paper where he works.
