The Ballad of Narayama
In Kabuki style, the movie tells the story of a mountain village at which the shortage of food contributes to a socially-enforced although voluntary policy in which family members take family members that are 70-year-old up Narayama mountain to perish. Granny Orin is coming 70. Her son Tatsuhei cannot bear losing his mother, even as she arranges his marriage. Her grandson Kesa, who is girl friend is pregnant, is happy to see Orin expire. Around them, a family of thieves are dealt with badly, along with an elderly man 70, whose kid has cast him out, scrounges for food. Can Orin's loving and accepting spirit teach and ennoble her loved ones?
