One has to think that writer-director Carol Lai had some Black Swan ambitions with a story that also revolves on a stage practitioner who starts on an unintentional destructive path while performing a role worth dying for. The Second Woman, whose Chinese title Romance Riddle may hold more clues as to how this film evolved, being more of a guessing game that threw constant clues rather than an overly romantic film about twins falling in love with a man who decides it's perfectly OK to string both women along, until he realizes that this spells double trouble.
