This poignant, personal depiction of music great Levon Helm begins with the scene of a tour bus revving up its engine in the silence of an empty parking lot. Jacob Hatley's intimate documentary captures the creative process of The Band founding member Levon Helm as he works on his first studio record in over two decades at his Woodstock residence. Although he's the ultimate survivor, he's conquered drug addiction, bankruptcy, the painful breakup of The Band, and even throat cancer— yet, as the rueful title implies, he wasn't in it for his own health in the first place.
