Russia, 1936 hero Colonel Kotov is spending in his dacha with his young wife and six-year-old daughter Nadia as well as other relatives members and friends. Things change radically with the arrival of Cousin Dmitri by Moscow, who appeals the women and modest Nadia with his matches and pianistic bravura. But Kotov isn't duped: This really is the period of Stalin's repression, together with calls at the midst of night spelling doom - and he knows that Dmitri isn't paying a social call...
