Diary of a Chambermaid

France, Approximately 1900. Coming from Paris' vibrancy, pert Célestine is procured as a chambermaid in Normandy. In the villa of the Lanlaire she encounters with the lecherous man of the house and his tyrannical asexual and jealous wife. Célestine is decided to avoid the fate suffered by the cook Marianne who has covertly killed one child born out of wedlock and now despairingly realises she is pregnant. The lively maid is fascinated by what the mysterious manservant Joseph is around: he distributes anti semitic leaflets and suggests that she could do the job for him being a prostitute in Cherbourg...
