Knucklehead

When his brother goes missing, mentally challenged Langston Bellows (Gbenga Akinnagbe) is left in Brooklyn's housing projects without a protector. Langston's destiny is now in the hands of his violent mother (Alfre Woodard). He sets out to discover the one doctor he feels is capable of curing him, a celebrity magazine columnist who promotes dubious prescription medicine cocktail combinations. If Langston succeeds in becoming "mentally excellent," he will be able to move into his own apartment with his girlfriend, who may be a product of his wishful thinking. After stumbling into the unethical world of pharmaceutical marketing, his search for his mysterious doctor and hero results in some unexpected findings. Langston tries for freedom from his previous existence - from his mother, his neighborhood, and his fragmented mind - all the while discovering that people are not who they appear to be.
