Cassie works at an unsatisfactory bar, is lonely, and is melancholy. When she informed her lover of her pregnancy, he left her. She had given her kid up for adoption following multiple failed suicide attempts – a decision she now regrets. When a Los Angeles theater troupe visits rural Buckeye, she meets stage technician Riley. He begins discreetly courting her... she is smitten with him, but retains affections for her ex-boyfriend Billy.
