The Andromeda Strain

When almost all the residents of Piedmont are found dead after the return a crisis is declared by the head of this US Air Force's Project Scoop. Friends of scientists headed by Dr. Jeremy Stone scramble into some laboratory and attempt to first isolate the life form whilst determining why two individuals from Piedmont - an old alcoholic and a six-month-old baby - survived. The boffins study the life form unaware that it presents a threat at the lab, which is equipped with a device built to keep the flow of dangerous biological agents and has already mutated. .
