The Marriage of Maria Braun

Near the close of the World War II, Hermann, who is immediately sent off to battle is married by Maria. When the war concludes, Maria considers that Hermann is dead. She starts working in an bar, where she meets with American soldier Bill. They take up when Hermann yields living, a relationship that's disrupted. Throughout a scuffle between both men, Bill is accidentally killed by Maria. Hermann takes the blame and goes to prison, whereas Maria begins a hard life.
