The Uprising

The Sandinista uprising that overthrew the dictatorship of Anastasio Somoza in Nicaragua is the subject of this film. The battle for Leon, which took place in proximity to Nicaragua's capital city of Managua and was the first territory to be freed is retold in considerable detail in this film. The film has contributions from a large number of residents of Leon who were active in the guerrilla movement as well as members of the Sandinista army.
