Wuthering Heights

Even the Earnshaws are all Yorkshire farmers through 19th Century. One day, Mr. Earnshaw returns from a visit to the town, bringing with him a ragged little boy named Heathcliff. Heathcliff becomes companion and soulmate to Hindley's sister, Catherine, although Hindley, earnshaw's son, resents the kid. After her parents die, Cathy and Heathcliff mature wild and free on the Moors and despite the enmity between Hindley and Heathcliff they are happy -- before Cathy meets Edgar Linton, a neighbor's son.
