Canal Road
The Nine Network in Australia broadcasts the drama series titled Canal Road on their channel. Under the direction of producer Susan Bower and in conjunction with writers Sarah Smith, John Ridley, and Dave Warner, the series was produced in-house and directed by Kevin Carlin. It was shot both in the GTV Studio 11 at Channel Nine's headquarters and on location in and around the city of Melbourne. It is reported that the production of the series cost 10 million Australian dollars. The first episode of the 13-part series was broadcast on April16, 2008. The premiere of the series was met with a lukewarm response from critics and just average viewership numbers, both of which dropped even further after the show was shifted to a later time slot. After the seventh episode of Canal Road, which garnered a viewership of only360,000, Nine decided to pull the show from its schedules; nevertheless, the eighth episode of the show was still made available online. The remaining episodes were broadcast on Nine between August and December of 2008. On August4, 2008 in Australia, Canal Road was made available on DVD for the first time.
