Dante
Dante is a short lived NBC adventure/drama television series starring Howard Duff as Willie Dante, a former politician who works Dante's Inferno, a bay area nightclub. Alan Mowbray Costarred the, like Stewart Styles. Tom D'Andrea as Biff, Dante's"man Friday", and Mort Mills as authorities Lieutenant Bob Malone.
Dante claims to have put his past has kept Biff and associates that are old Stewart. Neither the police nor the mob believe he could be truly finished with the underworld while his club remains legitimate. Dante associates in crime keep looking to lure him back.
Dick Powell had previously played with Dante in eight episodes of the Four Star Playhouse written by Blake Edwards, who had previously created the radio play Richard Diamond, Private Detective for Powell. There, Willie functions an illegal gambling operation in the trunk of their"Inferno", which authorities so on shut down. The sole real regular from the Star Playhouse variation was Mowbray, who had played a millionaire named Jackson who had gambled away his fortune and then worked as one of Dante's waiters. All these episodes were then rebroadcast beneath the name The very best in Mystery.
