DARLING in the FRANXX
The narrative takes place in an unspecified time and place in the far-off future. After the land has been destroyed, humanity builds the moveable fort city of Plantation. Mistilteinn, also referred to as the "birdcage," is where Plantation's pilots end to after being produced there. Children are raised there, but they are completely oblivious to the wider world and have no concept of what it is like to be free. They spend their lives constantly engaged in combat in order to complete their assignments. Their foes are unknown gigantic lifeforms that go by the name Kyouryuu, and the youngsters fight them by piloting robots called Franxx. Riding the Franxx is the children's way of proving to themselves that they do in fact exist. A little boy by the name of Hiro has a code name of016, and in the past he was considered a child prodigy. However, he is now behind, and it does not appear that his existence is required. If you're not flying a Franxx, you might as well just stop being. One day, a mysterious girl identified only as "Zero Two" materializes in front of him. She has two horns that protrude from her head.
